There are many ways to exercise our generosity; for those who are able to do so through long term gifts, Jesus poses a critical question: Jesus reminds us that our possessions are not ours forever; one day they will pass to others. Sometimes this is called “The Parable of the Rich Fool,” but its message is universal. The question it should bring up in all of us is not “How much should I give?” but “How much do I want to keep?” and “For how long should I keep it?”
